Transient States of Altered Awareness
Since 2003 I have experienced what one of my doctor's offices has labeled "transient states of altered awareness", which generally include dizziness, weakness, difficulty focusing, difficulty speaking, and varying degrees of immobility. I don't know when it's going to happen or how long it will last. In 2015 I started giving my attention, both during these episodes and not, to how the time might be articulated and what it might mean for me. I am disabled and yet not. Within this space exists the normalcy of everyday life, the desire to feel useful, the split of body and mind.
